The Allan Macpherson House

Once the home of Allan Macpherson, a local entrepreneur affectionately known as the "Laird of Napanee," the Macpherson House was built along the shores of the Napanee River about 1826 as his residence. Major Macpherson was an officer of the Lennox Militia, and he operated a grist mill, a saw mill, a distillery, and a general store. He also served as postmaster and magistrate. The Macpherson House has been restored to its 1830s form and furnished to the period. It has served as a community museum since 1967. The House is now owned and operated by the Lennox & Addington Historical Society, and offers tours, educational programs, workshops, and theme events throughout the season.

Opened in the historic John Stevenson house in Napanee in 2009, the Canadian Piano Museum's goal is to celebrate the significance of the piano and organ industries in Canadian history. The museum maintains a collection of more than 100 instruments, as well as a library of books, industry records, and company memorabilia related to Canadian organ and piano factories. Within the museum's archives are countless early instrumental recordings, and oral histories from those that worked in the industry, as well as a large collection of sheet music and hymn books. The museum provides hands-on experience, and those that know how to play and respect an instrument may play certain pianos with the help of the curator.
